Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre Hotels
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in the heart of Melbourne on the banks of the Yarra River. Construction is currently underway on a new convention centre, adjacent to the exhibition centre, which will create Australia's largest convention and exhibition district. The purpose built Exhibition Centre has 30,000m² of single floor, pillarless space and the existing convention centre is just across a short footbridge.
About the Convention Centre
With the latest technology and world-class food and wine, the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre is the perfect venue for exhibitions and business conferences. Located on South Wharf, an upscale leisure precinct on the banks of the Yarra River, it is a versatile and environmentally-friendly business venue. Whether you're planning a small meeting or an international convention, your guests will be blown away by the award-winning architecture and first-class facilities. Owned by the Victorian State Government, the building was completed in 2009 at a cost of $1 billion, to attract business events and enhance the state's prosperity.
This modern masterpiece features 52 meeting rooms, a stunning foyer, a grand banquet room, and a high-tech plenary which can be divided into three individual theatres. The five-star Hilton South Wharf is conveniently located on-site. There is free Wi-Fi and every room is fitted with state-of-the-art audio equipment and high-definition projectors. There is an internal link to the nearby Melbourne Exhibition Centre, with its purpose-built exhibition space and 466-seat auditorium, and the Clarendon Room, which boasts spectacular views across the Yarra River.
The surrounding city is often referred to as “the cultural capital of Australia” and the “birthplace of Australian television”. The world’s first feature films were produced in Melbourne and its surrounding suburbs. The city is home to both the Australian Ballet and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. There are year-round festivals, including the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and the Melbourne Fringe Festival. For sports enthusiasts, the city also hosts annual events including the Australian Grand Prix, the Grand Slam tennis tournament, and the Melbourne Cup. Kayaking and canoeing down the Yarra River provide scenic ways to unwind after a long and productive business day.
With a plethora of shops, restaurants, and entertainment choices within minutes of The Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre, your colleagues will never be bored – whether they’re working hard or playing hard. The venue is easily accessible for both local and international guests. Melbourne Airport is just 20 minutes away by taxi, and tram and train stops are within walking distance of the site.
